Rotterdam City Guide

We start the first day at Man Met Bril Koffie, taking in the in-house roastery and thoughtfully designed interior over a fresh cup of Rotterdam coffee. From there we take a short ride along the Rotte towards the centre, where we visit Ensō for some curated vintage. Those from Amsterdam and Antwerp might be familiar with Ensō from their own respective cities, and know this is a place where a quick browse into their archival gems can turn into a shopping spree. After shopping comes something nourishing for the mind and soul, with a visit to Frank Taal Galerie to close the day inspired.

We continued our search for inspiration on the second day, starting at the newly opened Fenix museum. Located in Katendrecht, this museum is built around stories of migration and movement, things that are deeply ingrained in Rotterdam’s culture. The museum’s tornado staircase alone, with its view over Rotterdam's evolving skyline, made the ride worth it.

After a day filled with art and stories that inspire, we found a perfect spot to unwind. From a new landmark to an old one, we biked to the iconic Industriegebouw for the seasonal chef's menu, mid-century modern interior, and a well-chosen list of cocktails and natural wines at Héroine.

For day 3 we biked back to Noord, and started at one of our favourite coffee spots, Wolly. Their weekly run club comes together every Sunday for free coffee and croissants, but since we already have a full day of biking ahead of us, we decide to just relax and watch from the terrace instead. 

Biking through Kralingen along the water, we take in the city’s scenery before heading to Juni, the coolest wine and cheese bar with delicious small plates and great vibes to end our perfect Rotterdam weekend. We opt for a pairing with a curated selection, and stay until close.

Rotterdam's flat, wide streets and constantly shifting skyline make it a city best understood from the saddle. One neighbourhood folding into the next, each with its own pace and personality.
