How to
Service and repair your bike

General maintenance
More on maintenanceProfessional service checks
We recommend having your bike serviced at least once a year at a professional local bike shop to keep it performing at its best.
Damage or loose parts
Before each ride, do a quick visual check for damage or loose parts. Regularly inspect components for cracks or heavy wear, as these may indicate that replacement is needed. Tighten bolts if you notice any looseness, and pay extra attention to key areas such as the seatpost, brake system, pedals and cranks, wheel axle nuts, and carriers.
Bike cleaning
Clean your bike regularly. Use a soft, damp cloth and clean gently after your rides.
Bike chain tension
Correct chain tension is important, especially on bikes with coaster brakes, as it affects braking performance. The right tension allows the chain to move about 1 cm up and down. If you’re unsure, a local bike shop can help set this correctly.
Chain cleaning and lubrication
Clean and lubricate the chain at least every 50 rides. Wipe the chain with a cloth and a suitable cleaner, then apply a bicycle-specific lubricant. You can also have this done at a professional bike shop.
Tyre pressure
Proper tyre pressure helps ensure optimal performance and ride quality. We recommend a tyre pressure between 3 and 4 bar.
